Realtor.com® has launched a Local Pride College Scholarship that it hopes will help foster the next generation of homeowners. To apply, applicants must demonstrate local pride and pen an essay about their neighborhood.
Realtor.com® will award scholarships of $2,500 to the first-place recipient; $1,000 for second place; and $500 for third place.
“The ability to afford a down payment and monthly mortgage payment is a steep financial hill to climb in today’s competitive housing market,” says Nate Johnson, chief marketing officer at realtor.com®. “Our Local Pride scholarship gives us a chance to invest in today’s students who are future home buyers.”
The median U.S. home price is $274,900, a 10 percent uptick over last year. The median earnings of a young adult with a bachelor’s degree is $50,000, according to realtor.com®.
Realtor.com® is also offering an eight-week internship program to allow college students hands-on experience by working directly with realtor.com®’s engineering, marketing, and product teams.
Entries for the Local Pride Scholarship are open until June 30. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and planning to attend an accredited college, university, or graduate school in the upcoming academic year. Full scholarship details are available at realtor.com®.
